A park used as a universal space for meetings, recreation, and contact with nature

The design for the surroundings of the Rojc social centre includes:

• the landscaping of the historical park
• the reconstruction of the existing parking lot
• the arrangement of the area in front of the social centre building
• the introduction of recreational spots with outdoor fitness equipment
• a table-tennis table
• a yoga deck
• a shot put field
• a basketball court
• a Baskin court
• a five-a-side football field
• a playground for children of all ages
• a bocce court
• a pump track
• a dog park
• a resting area with a vista point
• green areas that function as rain gardens

All the elements of the design are integrated, in terms of function and shape, into a harmonious whole that preserves all the existing natural amenities, such as many of the area’s treasured trees. The design draws on modern ecological practices, i.e., on the concept of green infrastructure which focuses on the use of sustainable drainage systems, the replacement of impermeable surfaces with permeable alternatives, and the planting of trees that can withstand the consequences of climate change, all while providing a pleasant environment where educational, social, and cultural activities can take place and be nurtured by a wider community.
