Serpentina is a historical pedestrian path that stretches along the walls of the Roman amphitheatre in Pula. Clean lines and contemporary materials, such as white concrete and COR-TEN steel, have been used to create a functional space that exudes simplicity and minimalism. The path does not visually compete with the monumental structure of the Arena but creates a perceptual break that enhances its monumental character. The vegetation has been thinned out to open new views of the amphitheatre. It has also been complemented with low local Mediterranean species. The steep terrain offers an impressive panoramic view of the city and the sea.
